Eian Sundust Stevens
About Me
Eian Sundust Stevens, raised on the Uintah & Ouray reservation in Fort Duchesne Utah, is an artist residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His artistry is rooted deep in powwows, The Dancers and their Regalia, and his distinctive beadwork often showcases the vibrant colors and intricate patterns characteristic of Northern Ute and Shoshone designs. Nearly all of his work is intuitive in that designs are not predetermined but develop as the work develops. Strict use of Brain-tanned and smoked Buckskin for the base and backing is primarily used; sourced from relatives in Fort Hall, Idaho are priority in Sundust’ work. Exclusive use of size 13/00 cut Charlotte beads alongside size 13/00 24kt gold plated beads and 18kt Gold filled beads adorn nearly all work.
In 2024 and 2025, Eian received recognition at the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA), where he was honored for his outstanding contributions in Beadwork.
His talent truly shines in his collaboration with the acclaimed series "Outer Range," where his shoshone style beadwork and designs were prominently featured in Season 2. This project allowed Eian to blend his artistic vision with storytelling, bringing an authentic representation of Indigenous culture to a wider audience. Through his work, Eian Sundust not only preserves the legacy of his ancestors but also paves the way for future generations of Native artists, enriching the tapestry of Indigenous art.
