Joe Cajero Jr.
About Me
Joe Cajero Jr. was born in 1970 in Santa Fe, NM and raised in Jemez Pueblo. Descending from a family of Pueblo artists, he was inspired by his father, a painter, and his mother, Esther, a potter, who introduced him to the world of Native art through shows across the Southwest. From an early age, he learned not only the value of artistic expression but also the importance of presenting and marketing authentic Indigenous art.
Influenced by the stories and traditions shared by his great-grandmother, Petra Romero, Cajero's work reflects a deep connection to his Pueblo heritage. For more than 17 years, he has created original clay sculptures, limited-edition bronze works, and monumental commissions. He also designs jewelry inspired by the imagery found in his sculptures, continually exploring new creative possibilities across multiple mediums.
Today, Cajero lives with his wife in Placitas, New Mexico, where he continues to create while enjoying fitness, golf, and the outdoors.
