Marco Arviso

About Me

Marco Arviso, a Diné (Navajo) artist from Black Rock, Arizona, creates jewelry that reflects both his cultural identity and his evolution as a multidisciplinary artist. Belonging to the Naashgali’ Diné (Mescalero Apache Clan) and born for the Hona’gha’ahii (One Who Walks Around Clan), his work is deeply rooted in tradition while embracing a modern artistic voice.

Before focusing on jewelry design, Marco developed his skills through painting and sculpture, experiences that continue to shape his creative approach. This background allows him to think beyond conventional jewelry-making, treating each piece as a small-scale composition where form, movement, and balance are carefully considered. His transition into wearable art is not a departure from his earlier work, but rather an extension of it—bringing dimension and life to his artistic vision in a more intimate, personal format.

His designs stand out for their thoughtful use of color, texture, and negative space. Drawing from the natural environment of the Navajo Nation, Marco incorporates elements that echo desert landscapes, open skies, and organic forms. The materials he selects—natural gem-quality stones, supple leathers, vivid feathers, and sterling silver—are chosen not only for their beauty but also for their ability to convey authenticity and connection to the land.

Each piece reflects a balance between tradition and innovation. While his work honors the cultural influences that inform his perspective, it also pushes into contemporary design, offering a fresh interpretation of Southwestern style. The result is jewelry that feels both timeless and modern—expressive, grounded, and distinctly his own.

Through his work, Marco Arviso continues to explore the intersection of heritage and creativity, producing pieces that resonate as both personal adornment and meaningful artistic expression.
